If you are in a hurry, the fastest mode to get to Dharamshala from Delhi is of course by air. You can take a Jagson Airlines flight from Delhi at 10:40 AM that will take you to Kangra Airport at 12:05 PM. This means you can cover the distance between Delhi and Dharamshala in just 1 hour and 30 minutes.

The nearest railway station from Dharamshala is Pathankot. There are several trains plying between Delhi and Pathankot that are listed below.

• Train number 4033 Jammu Mail departs Delhi at 9:20Pm and arrives at Pathankot at 7:15AM in the morning taking around 10 hours
• Train number 4035 Dauladhar Express departing from Delhi at 10:10PM and arriving at Pathankot at 7:50 AM in the morning taking around 10 hours.
• Train number 8108 Malwa Express departing from Delhi at 5:00 AM and arriving Chakki Bank at 1:45 PM.

From Pathankot, it is a 3.5 hour bus journey to Dharamshala.

How to reach Dharamshala from Delhi – By bus

There are several buses from Delhi to Dharamshala that run on a daily basis. There is a Tibetan locality called Majnu ka Tila in Delhi from where you can catch a bus at night. This bus will reach Dharamshala in the morning. The time taken by bus to cover the distance between Delhi and Dharamshala is 12 hours. The fare on these buses is around Rupees 550.

How to reach Dharamshala from Delhi – By taxi

You can book a taxi at Delhi that will take you to Dharamshala in 10-12 hours. If it is a large vehicle that is air conditioned, you may have to pay around Rupees 7000 as the fare.
