It can be embarrassing ordering a pair of shoes online and then finding that they do not fit properly. However, the fact to consider here is that most people are not aware of their shoe size and the salesmen at shoe stores measure their foot size on a device before showing shoes of their liking. If you do not know how to measure the foot size for shoes, this article attempts to make it very easy by explaining the method in some easy ways.
However, the difficulty with measuring the size of your feet is that most methods find out the length and width only and they are two dimensional in nature. Nevertheless, your feet are three dimensional and you can know about proper fitting of any shoes only after you have worn them and moved around for some time. Nevertheless, it is prudent to get the nearest approximation with the help of methods described in this article.
A guide to measure the foot size
Step 01
Attach a plain piece of rectangular paper on a board. Remember to take a paper that is bigger than your feet. You can use a tape to affix the paper on the board before going for foot measurement.
Step 02
Now place your right foot on this sheet of paper while sitting on a stool.
Step 03
Take a pencil in your hand and outline your foot on this paper. Remain as close as possible to your foot as you make the outline, but do not push the pencil so that it goes under your foot at any time.
Step 04
Once you have finished outlining the right foot, repeat the same procedure for your left foot. This is because there can be a difference between the sizes of your both feet. Once you have the outline of both your feet on paper, it is time to find out your shoe size.
Step 05
You need a measuring tape or ruler to measure the length and width. These two parameters are required to be measured to know your shoe size. Your foot measure takes into account the length and the width of your feet. Do not forget to have your socks or stockings on while measuring feet for shoes.
Length for shoe size
Measure the distance between the tip of the big toe and your heels on the outline of your both feet. The length should be measured in inches.
Width for shoe size
Now measure the widest width of your feet. There may be a slight difference between the measurements of both feet.
The largest measurements of length and width have to be taken into consideration to determine your shoe size. Now choose the corresponding shoe size from the standard shoe size charts to measure feet. Measuring feet for shoes can be fun, but it is always advisable as you will always buy correct shoes for yourself.
