The primary function of a penis is to inject sperm into the female cloaca. Many birds and reptiles have such structures. Birds mate by joining cloaca. Therefore, the cloaca is essential for excretion and reproduction as well. Also, it is crucial for egg laying. 

What is Anus

The anus is the simple opening at the distal end of the alimentary canal. It is a passage to the undigested waste. Further, it occurs in both protostomes and deuterostomes. The development of the anus is an essential stage in multicellular organisms.

The anus occurs at the opposite end of the mouth of the alimentary tract. Mammals excrete semi-solid matter that are unable to digest. Waste is the semi-solid matter that remains after digestion, and its composition depends on the type of animal. Bones, cellulose, and lignin are such materials.
