The main difference between internet and ethernet is that the internet is a wide area network (WAN) while the ethernet is a local area network (LAN).
Internet refers to a worldwide large network that connects a large number of devices around the world. It provides the users with the ability to exchange information instantly. Furthermore, internet provides many resources and services. The users can share files, access various websites and web pages, send emails, watch education slides, read online books, perform online transactions, listen to favorite songs and watch movies using the internet. On the other hand, ethernet connect devices in a local location. It is a network in a small geographical area.

What is Internet
Internet is a global network that connects computer networks worldwide. It is a massive network of networks. It uses the TCP/IP protocol for data transmission. Users can share information instantly with the help of the internet. It allows sharing resources and providing services such as file sharing, World Wide Web and electronic mailing. In the internet, desktop computers, routers, switches and other devices are connected to each other using cables or through a wireless network or more advanced technology such as fiber optics.
Internet is one of the most vital and effective communication methods in today’s world. It is helpful in almost all the fields such as business, education, medicine, media, etc. It is an excellent source of information for the user.
What is Ethernet
Ethernet provides a standard way to connect the computers to the network through a wired connection. It is an interface that connects multiple devices such as computer and switches. It is used for Local Area Networks which is a network limited to a small geographical area. Ethernet sends the data in the form of frames. These frames include source and destination addresses and error detection mechanisms.
A standard ethernet cable is slightly thicker than a usual telephone cable, and it has an RJ45 connector at the end. There are multiple standards of ethernet. The 10BASE-T has a speed up to 10Mbps. 100BASE-T supports up to 100Mbps and 1000BASE-T has a speed up to 1000Mbps. When a computer with 10BASE-T NIC connects to a 100BASE-T network, then the device can send and receive data at a speed of 10Mbps.
What is the Difference Between Internet and Ethernet
Definition
Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the TCP/IP protocol to link devices worldwide. Ethernet is a networking technology that is used in Local Area Networks (LAN) where the computers are connected within a primary physical space.
Network Type
Internet is a Wide Area Network (WAN) while Ethernet is a Local Area Network (LAN). Internet is a network that covers a large geographical area. Ethernet is a network that covers a small geographical area.
Security
Ethernet is more secure than Internet. In the Ethernet, outside devices have no access to the network. On the other hand, internet provides open access to the users. Therefore, any user can access the network and obtain the required information. This can cause more security threats to the devices.
Quantity
There is a single Internet whereas there are multiple ethernets.
Conclusion
The difference between internet and ethernet is that the internet is a wide area network (WAN) while the ethernet is a local area network (LAN). Internet is a worldwide large network that connects a large number of devices around the world while ethernet is a network that covers a small geographical area.
